Doctolib Delivering Teleheath Service Via Vonage Video API

The lack of healthcare resources is creating quite the stir during the coronavirus pandemic. Healthcare professionals are tasked with stemming the tide in the COVID-19 fight, and as the rest of the world is sent into quarantine telehealth is turning out to be effective in these efforts.

French-based provider of consultation management software Doctolib is enabling its telehealth service via Vonage Video APIs.

“Teleconsultations enable healthcare practitioners to treat patients at a distance, offering invaluable treatment and guidance while limiting the spread of COVID-19. Doctolib is enabling around 100,000 video consultations every day, and another 30,000 doctors will be onboarded in the coming days, so we expect the number of teleconsultations to soar,” said Sanche d’Abravanel, Patient Strategy Director at Doctolib.

The European ehealth startup is aiming to support the public with video services to doctors and patients free of charge during the current pandemic. To assist healthcare providers in the transition, the French National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) is giving each €350.  Docolib is also financing the installation, equipment and management of the service, further extending telehealth’s reach.

Omar Javaid, President, Vonage API Platform Group. “It’s vital for healthcare providers to be able to deliver a continuous, effective service when the unexpected happens, and adopting telehealth services means that those forced to self-isolate can access care from practitioners with thousands of miles between them, an important step to protecting other patients and healthcare professionals.”

At a time when face-to-face interactions simply aren’t safe, real time video provides a way to perform triage.
