Healthcare Technology and News: Bluesocket Helps Enhance Local Relief Efforts to Haiti


Bluesocket, a dealer in open, standards-based enterprise mobility solutions, has announced that it is helping in the relief efforts of earthquake-ravaged Haiti region.
 
The company has donated Wireless LAN technology and has provided engineering support to the local Massachusetts relief mission to install wireless connectivity at the Pierre Payen hospital, located 40 miles outside of Port-au-Prince.
 
According to the company, Bluesocket technology will allow doctors to communicate with each other internally over the hospital network and to access the external internet via a satellite dish. Bluesocket has set up Microsoft SharePoint WSS for the doctors to help them collaborate onsite and with their teams in the United States.
 
A Bluesocket engineer flew down with the team to set up the company's renowned wireless technology, which included internal access points and external point-to-multipoint access points. The externally positioned access points are weather resistant to cope with the extreme temperatures of the region.
