Healthcare Technology and News: Officescape's Business Continuity Solutions Counter Swine Flu Absenteeism

There is a danger that people may stay away from work because, as reported by HealthTechZone, they are afraid that “Swine Flu,” now officially called Influenza A (H1N1) by the World Health Organization, may soon reach epidemic proportions across the United States and the rest of the globe.

The absenteeism, as and when it happens, will have a cascading effect on business flow and may cripple revenues.

Officescape has announced that its solutions, particularly its Emergency Office, can help businesses continue their workflow by enabling employees to work from anywhere at any time and interact with each other via the Internet or any one of its physical Office on Demand command centers. The company claims to have access to more than 650 certified, fully furnished offices and conference facilities with ever ready high speed Internet connections, equipment and back-up servers all over the United States.

All electronically stored data, communications, business strategies and service contracts can be backed up in a relatively short duration, and later accessed, edited and saved regardless of geography and time. The Emergency Office suite can be made business ready within 24 hours and it also offers Internet based reservation services for audio, video, large and Web conferencing.

The company says its solutions epitomize the U.S. federal government’s National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza Implementation Plan, which highlighted the advantages of using telecommunications and broadband connectivity to continue working remotely and avoid physical proximity, and therefore slow down the disease spread.

Officials cited an actual use case scenario when in 2004 it provided its Emergency Office solutions to Authentium, a Florida-based security software company, to guarantee continuity of operations when Florida’s coastlines were under threat from Hurricane Ivan.

A real benefit in these difficult times would have been if 3D virtual reality offices were readily available and functioning. In an earlier article HealthTechZone reported that an entire world expo was constructed in considerable detail in 3D virtual reality, and is permanently posted on the World Wide Web, where companies can book stalls, display select aspects of their portfolio and constantly update products and offerings.
