Evergreen Healthcare, a district and community-based health care organization, announced that sharing of patient information will now be carried out in a safe and secure environment via new electronic healthcare information technology solutions. These solutions will help the medical center to share patient information across its network of medical centers in real-time without compromising on security. Evergreen Healthcare carried out a careful evaluation of available technology solutions before deciding on Cerner Corporation to support it in the setting up of a secure electronic health record (EHR) system. The new system will protect patient information and help in improving services provided by healthcare professionals.

Massive amounts of data pertaining to patients’ lab results, medical history and prescribed medications pass through a medical centers system on a daily basis. Keeping track of this information without compromising on the security of patient data and providing optimized in and outpatient services are a leading concern among the healthcare services industry. However, the setting up of a system which can effectively consolidate patient records for access at a central data-base by multiple providers can effectively address these concerns. Cerner's system will provide Evergreen Healthcare with these capabilities for its Eastside network. Included within the system is a patient portal which will enable patients at the medical center to schedule appointments, access test results and speak with their attending physician in a secure environment.
Physicians will also benefit with the system as it sets up a common platform which can enable collaborations and consultations between specialists and other physicians for optimized decisions.
In addition to establishing a secure environment for sharing of patient information across its network, the Cerner solution can help improve and integrate workflow processes which can reduce instances of errors within the system. Optimized processes within the Evergreen Healthcare organization will also effectively cut down on costs and expenses.
