While Comcast has been taking it on the chin frequently of late, it's clear that the company wants to improve its image. There are few better ways to do so than by being directly connected to practices that save and improve human lives, and recently, Comcast Business stepped into that fray quite well with new support for Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare in Oregon.
With the new installation of high-performance Ethernet and a slate of Internet services, Comcast Business has connected the 65 separate locations that comprise Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare's total network, a massive venture offering support for five separate counties and, so far, over 15,000 individual consumers. Cascadia offers not only medical services, but also support for mental health issues, overall wellness, and even homelessness, offering several community outreach services for various addictions.
With Comcast's service, Cascadia gets access to a network that can run up to 100 Mbps, which makes the use of things like electronic medical records (EMR) and test results much easier. Collaboration tools like voice service are also on hand, and the Ethernet Dedicated Internet connection makes it easier to provide high-performance bandwidth for the staff.
Cascadia's chief information officer and director of operations Brandon Gatke commented, “This expansion not only benefits the individuals we serve in the greater Portland metropolitan area, but it also enables our 900 employees throughout the five counties to stay connected—which is no easy feat. Each person we serve needs specialized, compassionate care. We are confident that we are better prepared to do this thanks to Comcast Business.”
Those interested in seeing what else Comcast Business can do will need only check out ITEXPO 2017, running February 8 – 10 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Comcast Business is set to be an exhibitor at the event, and will have plenty of exciting developments on hand to show off.
In turn, this is a great development for Comcast Business. While Comcast has been having a rough go of things thanks to some customer service issues like the Ryan Block incident and a variety of others, it's also showing the kind of good it can do as a company. By providing vital communications infrastructure for a substantial healthcare operation, it's directly helping to improve the lives and welfare of everyone in the surrounding area. That's very good news for everyone involved; most people don't think about the good Comcast Business is doing in the face of a growing slate of customer service issues, but if Comcast Business can turn that around with more actions like this, that only improves the overall perception making earlier issues water under the bridge, problems that have since been addressed with diligence and caring.
Comcast Business has pulled off an excellent move here, reinforcing its image and giving a major healthcare operation a leg up to better serve its own market. When a situation like that happens, it's worth just standing back and applauding.
