Jeron Integrates Nurse Call System with EnGenius Mobile Extension Solution

EnGenius developed its DuraFon PRO cordless phone system for "harsh, complex" environments.

While some might not think of a hospital as a harsh environment, it's certainly a complex one. To coordinate healthcare communications, EnGenius Technologies has integrated its DuraFon PRO system with the Jeron Provider Nurse Call system.

Organizations can add the multi-line, expandable DuraFon PRO solution to an existing PBX or VoIP system. From there, it can support between four and 32 ports and up to 90 DuraFon PRO handsets or DuraWalkie two-way radios.

EnGenius products generate no licensing fees or airtime charges.

Jeron's director of marketing, Myles Cochran, says Jeron has recommended DuraFon PRO to its clients in the past, citing it as one of the top base stations on the market.

"The DuraFon system provides an economical long-range cordless solution for skilled and acute care facilities that need from one to several wireless phones and do not have the budget to install an entire Voice over WLAN or SIP phone infrastructure," Cochran explained.

Product manager at EnGenius Alex Wei points out that the point of the integration is to untether nurses and other critical care personnel. "[The solution] enables them to move freely throughout the facility without losing any of the communication functionality and immediacy that their system provides," said Wei.

The products in Jeron's Provider Nurse Call series range from a tone-visual system to an Ethernet-based VoIP nurse call system with full duplex audio communication. Each product is designed to integrate with wireless phones, pagers, real-time location systems, ADT software, enterprise administrative reporting and centralized code blue notification.

Jeron also manufactures Pro-Alert Nurse Call systems for smaller environments like nursing homes and clinics.
