CellTrust Mobile Suite Addresses HIPAA Concern for Healthcare Professionals

Mobile security is an important concern for those in the healthcare profession. Being mobile provides many important benefits, but security and HIPPA compliance are paramount.

Recognizing this, CellTrust Corporation has developed a suite of mobile applications called “SecureSMS PULSE.” Designed specifically with the healthcare industry in mind, the technology allows security on every level: paging, voice calls, e-mail and SMS.

According to a recent statement, its failover channel “compensates for many hospital ‘dead spots’,” and provides paging that is described as “resilient” and “persistent.” Some of the benefits cited by CellTrust Corporation CEO and chairman, Sean Moshir, include the ability to reduce administration costs, improve communication response times, and increase mobility of doctors.

Tim Wagner, Samsung Mobile’s vice president and general manager of enterprise sales, says that CellTrust meets the needs of HIPAA compliance; “By embracing our SAFE (Samsung For Enterprise) solution with this launch, CellTrust makes it possible to turn a smartphone or tablet into a next generation, HIPAA compliant messaging and paging solution.”

The most important potential benefit of the technology is seen in improving the care that patients receive. As mobile applications in the healthcare industry evolve, this care will continue to improve. The benefits have been clear from the outset; Healthcare IT News called doctors, nurses, clinicians and other healthcare professionals, “early adopters of tablets.”

As these improvements are made, being able to keep patient data secure is on the forefront of everyone in the healthcare industry’s mind. Now that the security concerns that come with mobility are being addressed, healthcare professionals will be able to do more than just respond to the needs of patients more quickly; many surmise that these professionals will be able to spend more time taking care of patients, since it will no longer be consumed by administrative tasks.

These important evolutions will continue to drive change in the healthcare industry, which has been rapidly evolving by the hand of mobile technology.
