Life Fitness Machines Sync with SoFit App for ALS Charity

SoFit is a social gaming platform optimized for the health and fitness industries, which harvests the power of social media and networking to inspire people to get fit, incorporating real-world rewards and partnering with charities to boost motivation.

InterAmerican Gaming Inc. (IAG), the company behind the program, announced on Wednesday that the company has partnered with Life Fitness to bring SoFit to more users.

Anthony Morelli, Life Fitness’ technology product manager, explained what the companies hope their partnership will accomplish: “Tens of thousands of Life Fitness cardio products will have SoFit mobile app compatibility, giving users the ability to seamlessly track and record indoor workout activities earning them points, rewards and charity donations.”

SoFit Version 2.0 is set for release in Spring/Summer 2013, and will feature live integration with thousands of Life Fitness machines in order to accomplish the companies’ lofty goals, which include an initiative toward finding a cure for ALS.

“We are thrilled to be working closely with Life Fitness to bring their customer sin the gym and at home a new way to have fun, and do good, with their physical activities,” said founder and CEO of SoFit Mobile Inc. Marc Askenasi. “To help celebrate this partnership, we are donating $1 for every mile logged in the Augie’s Quest to Cure ALS Challenge on SoFit up to $5,000.”

Augie Nieto, Life Fitness’ found and chief inspiration officer for MDA’s Augie’s Quest, commented on the new partnership and initiative.

“Since my diagnosis of Lou Gehrig’s disease in 2005, the fitness industry has supported Augie’s Quest and helped raise $35 million for ALS research,” said Nieto. “I’m excited about the opportunity to partner with SoFit and help our supporters to participate in a new and unique way. We have momentum in the lab and hope to have two clinical trials up and running in 2013. With the support from SoFit and other industry partners, I’m confident we will succeed.”

Another feature included in the new SoFit will be “Challenges,” which allows users to join in-app activities that reflect real-world charity events and fitness training efforts.

Currently, the SoFit app Version 1.5 is now available from the App Store, and will be live on Google Play for Android soon.
