Yorkville Chiropractor Recommend Decompression Therapy as Alternative to Back Surgery

Alternative medicines and therapies are no longer met with skepticism, and the science of chiropractic is now seen as a legitimate practice. In fact, those suffering from back aches and other ailments these days prefer going to chiropractor than an orthopedic doctor.

To treat back pain, some chiropractors use decompression therapy, and according to a new press release by Advanced Physical Medicine of Yorkville, they have seen significant success in treating patients.

The DRX9000 machine is one of the key components of decompression therapy, as it helps to restore a herniated disk to its proper alignment in the spine. Clinic director and chiropractor, Dr. Brian Berkey is of the opinion that this helps to relieve pressure on nearby nerves, which can relieve chronic pain.

This non-surgical spinal decompression therapy is a better alternative to back or neck surgery for the treatment of bulging intervertebral discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica, chronic low back or neck pain, herniated disks and degenerative disk disease.

According to Board Certified Internist Farrah Malik, M.D., non-surgical spinal decompression therapy is an effective and non-invasive treatment.

“We have had significant success using the DRX9000 machine to treat Yorkville spinal stenosis and herniated disk patients," said Dr. Malik. "Decompression therapy is a revolutionary treatment that utilizes state-of-the-art technology helping to provide long-lasting, non-invasive pain relief."

The DRX9000 machine is a success because of its ability to create vacuum around the compressed disk, assisting to return the disk to its proper position in the spine.

"The number of necessary treatments is dependent on each patient's wellness needs," said Dr. Berkey. "However, many of our patients report dramatic improvement immediately following their first few treatments. Treatment is gentle and non-invasive, and many patients find that lying back on the machine's padded table is a relaxing experience."

"After a work injury, moving the body can be painful," said Dr. Berkey. "Combining physiotherapy with decompression treatments and chiropractic care helps patients safely regain a full range of motion."
