Healthcare Technology and News: Doro Mobiles Deliver Care Assistance Services and Solutions

Doro is a Swedish company focusing on the development, marketing and sales of telecom products especially adapted to the growing worldwide population of seniors. It recently revealed the first strategic elements of its global mHealth initiative.

Doro’s mobile devices will now be used for the delivery of care assistance services and solutions.

"The delivery of mobile health solutions poses huge benefits. With over 1.2 million users, our knowledge of mobile design and interface adaption for the senior audience is winning,” said Jerome Arnaud, president and CEO of Doro. “Our expertise has been instrumental in driving the advance of new applications specifically for health and wellbeing. The first of our mHealth partnerships lead us into exciting new horizons and the next chapter in the growth of easy-to-use, senior-focused mobiles."

Doro has partnered with MyGlucoHealth that delivers the first and only FDA cleared and CE certified Bluetooth-enabled glucometer of its kind in the world.

Both partners will team on providing a mobile solution to improve the management of diabetes. As per the agreement between the two companies, MyGlucoHealth's testing device will integrate with some of Doro's “easy-to-use” mobile devices, which is expected to simplify the uploading of data from blood tests via SMS into a secure portal.

This secure portal provides feedback and advice to the user and this will ultimately enable better management of his or her diabetes, said the company.

"We have a strong desire to maintain our position as the pioneering mHealth solution,” said John Hendel, chairman of MyGlucoHealth.com. “By partnering with Doro, we will continue to lead this area especially within the senior-focused market."

Finally, Doro has partnered with Finnish company Medixine to deliver a one-touch medication reminder service via Doro's easy-to-use mobile devices.

Thanks to Doro EasyMed Reminder, an integrated service, which enables users to better manage prescription medications and improve compliance of prescription drugs.

"Medixine is constantly looking for ways to lower the barrier for citizens to use e-health services. Doro phones offer the ideal platform for mHealth applications to reach the elderly," said Dr. Tapio Jokinen, CEO of Medixine.

In other company news, Doro recently launched its first mobile phone for seniors in New Zealand.
