Cognosante Awarded Contract with the State of Alaska

The state of Alaska has selected Cognosante to perform health information exchange services.

"We appreciate the opportunity to continue our partnership with the state of Alaska," said Jarred Clark, managing director of Cognosante, in a statement.

Clark said that the Health Information Exchange is critical to improving access and quality of care for all Alaskans, and the company is honored to be chosen to perform these services.

As part of the contract, Cognosante will conduct an evaluation of Alaska's statewide HIE capabilities and annual state health information technology (HIT) operations, and provide strategic plan updates for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.

Officials with Cognosante said that the effort also includes alignment of HIT operations and strategic plan updates with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Implementation Advance Planning Document, HIT resource assessments, and ongoing technical assistance and consulting services, including providing a national perspective on HIE initiatives.

Cognosante is a provider of health IT services to state and federal agencies and regional health organizations. The company assists its clients in developing, managing and executing complex healthcare information programs and infrastructures.

Recently, Cognosante announced the addition of Joelle Pozza-Shreves as vice president of marketing and communications.

She oversees the company’s strategic marketing and communications plan, brand positioning, social media outreach and events marketing, among other duties.

Prior to joining Cognosante, Pozza-Shreves served as Director of Communications for Stanley, Inc., a provider of information technology services and solutions to U.S. defense and federal civilian government agencies, which was acquired by CGI Group Inc. in 2010.

While at Stanley, she led the communications efforts for such key activities as the company’s initial public offering in 2006 and several acquisitions.
